Practical guide

Lieferando costs: What does a restaurant really pay?

The best publicly documented Lieferando reference values are 14 percent if the restaurant delivers itself and 30 percent with Lieferando logistics. The guide calculates both models per order, month and year and shows which additional costs need to be taken into account in a fair comparison.

The short answer: 14 or 30 percent

Restaurants have to reckon with two significantly different cost models at Lieferando:

  • 14 percent commission, if the restaurant delivers the order itself.
  • 30 percent commission, if Lieferando also takes over the delivery.

These are the best publicly documented reference values. Lieferando published them in an official fact sheet; a company spokesman later confirmed it again. For a commission-relevant order over 30 euros, the restaurant will cost the brokerage mathematically 4.20 euros. With Lieferando logistics they are 9 euros.

Industry articles sometimes mention ranges of 13 to 14 percent or 30 to 31 percent. For a reliable model calculation, we do not use the range, but rather the directly documented values of 14 and 30 percent. Your actual contract may still differ.

Lieferando model Reference value Delivery performance Costs for an order value of €30
Restaurant delivers itself 14 % Restaurant organizes drivers and vehicles 4,20 €
Lieferando delivers 30 % Lieferando takes care of the delivery 9,00 €

How much does Lieferando cost per order?

The calculation is simple: Order value times commission rate. What is crucial, however, is which value is considered as the commission basis according to the contract. To simplify the calculations, the table uses the full specified order value.

Commission basis per order Cost at 14% Cost at 30% Amount remaining after commission: 14% / 30%
20 € 2,80 € 6,00 € 17,20 € / 14,00 €
30 € 4,20 € 9,00 € 25,80 € / 21,00 €
40 € 5,60 € 12,00 € 34,40 € / 28,00 €
50 € 7,00 € 15,00 € 43,00 € / 35,00 €

The remaining amount is not yet a profit. This includes the use of goods, packaging, personnel, rent, energy, taxes and, if applicable, your own delivery costs. This last point is particularly important with the 14 percent model: the lower commission does not mean that the delivery is free.

How much does Lieferando cost per month?

For the monthly costs you need three numbers: orders, average commission base and commission rate.

Bestellungen × Provisionsbasis × Provisionssatz = monatliche Provision

The following example assumes an average value of 30 euros:

orders per month Brokered sales Cost at 14% Cost at 30% Annual costs at 14% / 30%
100 3.000 € 420 € 900 € 5.040 € / 10.800 €
300 9.000 € 1.260 € 2.700 € 15.120 € / 32.400 €
600 18.000 € 2.520 € 5.400 € 30.240 € / 64.800 €
900 27.000 € 3.780 € 8.100 € 45.360 € / 97.200 €

A restaurant with 20,000 euros Lieferando turnover per month This comes to a commission of 2,800 euros at 14 percent or 6,000 euros at 30 percent. Extrapolated to a year with constant sales, that's 33,600 or 72,000 euros.

The gap of 3,200 euros per month is not automatically an opportunity for savings. In the 30 percent model, the restaurant also pays for Lieferando logistics. A serious comparison must offset the costs of your own delivery fleet.

What additional Lieferando costs may arise?

The commission is the largest visible cost item, but not always the only one. Check the offer, contract and billing for these points.

Own drivers and vehicles

In the 14 percent model, the restaurant is responsible for the entire delivery organization. This includes wages and additional wage costs, vehicles, fuel or electricity, insurance, maintenance, downtime and scheduling.

Your own delivery costs per order cannot be stated reliably across the board. To do this, divide the actual driver and vehicle costs for a month by the number of orders delivered.

Paid visibility

Additional promotion can improve placement in the marketplace. There is no proven universal price list for this. If a restaurant uses such services, the specific campaign costs are also included in the monthly bill.

Service fee for the guest

According to the dealer association, a service fee has been charged for guests in the Lieferando shopping cart since April 2025. 2.5 percent up to a maximum of 0.99 euros for self-delivery and 5 percent up to a maximum of 1.49 euros for Lieferando logistics were mentioned.

This service fee is no commission from the restaurant. It must therefore not be entered into the calculator as another restaurant deduction. However, it can increase the visible final price for the guest.

Contractual clauses and pricing

The Federal Cartel Office dealt with a Lieferando price parity clause in 2023. From this it is not possible to determine with certainty which rule is in your contract today. Therefore, always check the current contract conditions before different prices, vouchers or other switching incentives.

When is Lieferando worthwhile despite the commission?

Lieferando can be worthwhile if the platform brings orders that the restaurant would not have received without the marketplace. The commission then not only buys software, but also visibility and – in the 30 percent model – delivery performance.

The crucial question is therefore not: “How much sales come from Lieferando?” But: “How much additional contribution margin is left after all channel-specific costs?”

A restaurant should evaluate Lieferando separately:

  1. commission-relevant sales,
  2. Lieferando commission,
  3. Use of goods and packaging,
  4. own or included delivery costs,
  5. paid promotion,
  6. remaining contribution margin.

The marketplace becomes particularly expensive if many already known regular guests continue to order via Lieferando. Then the restaurant may pay commission on sales that it could have received itself via website, Google business profile or direct recommendations.

Lieferando or your own online ordering website: Which is cheaper?

When it comes to the system price, it is usually easier to plan your own shop: a fixed monthly amount is offset by a sales-dependent commission. However, the comparison is only economically fair when reach, delivery, online payment and marketing are taken into account on both sides.

Cost or service block Lieferando GastroSprint direct channel
Basic model Sales-dependent commission according to contract from €64 net per month
GastroSprint order commission not applicable because of different system no additional percentage commission on direct orders

Online payment according to Lieferando model Credit card and PayPal via Mollie Connect; automatic online payment processing
Additional costs if necessary, promotion and own logistics Payment provider fees, marketing and own logistics

For 300 orders with an average commission of 30 euros, the 14 percent model costs 1,260 euros per month. GastroSprint Direkt starts at 64 euros net per month. The pure distance is 1,196 euros.

The Guide to the costs of an online ordering system shows the full cost comparison. The current GastroSprint plans are on the page Pricing.

Does a restaurant have to completely replace Lieferando?

No. For many restaurants, a parallel model makes more sense than a hard exit:

  • Lieferando remains a channel for marketplace visibility and new customers.
  • Your own shop becomes a direct ordering channel for guests who already know the restaurant.
  • Each channel is evaluated according to its actual contribution margin.

Contact details from Lieferando orders may not be automatically used for newsletters, SMS or other advertising. Direct customer communication needs a permissible basis and must comply with data protection, advertising consent and the current platform conditions.

The Comparison of GastroSprint vs. Lieferando ranks both models according to performance. The site Lieferando alternative for restaurants explains the step-by-step development of your own ordering channel.

Conclusion: The commission must be valued in euros

The Lieferando commission appears abstract as a percentage value. Their importance becomes visible in euros: with a monthly turnover of 10,000 euros, 14 percent correspond to 1,400 euros and 30 percent correspond to 3,000 euros.

Whether these costs make economic sense depends on what Lieferando brings to the restaurant. If you deliver yourself, you have to take your own logistics into account. Anyone who has Lieferando deliver should not compare the 30 percent with a pure software price. And anyone who sets up their own shop must also actively develop its reach.

Sources and data status

The values of 14 and 30 percent come from the official Lieferando fact sheet from March 2023. A Lieferando spokesman confirmed them to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger in December 2023. The public partner site audited on August 31, 2026 confirms commission-based billing and waiver of a sign-up fee, but does not show a universal current percentage. The individual offer and the contract therefore remain relevant.

GastroInsider served as an orientation for the direct cost question, the calculation examples and the cost blocks covered. All wording has been recreated; Figures were checked against additional sources. GastroSprint is itself a provider of an online ordering system. Our own product and price information is therefore shown separately from the Lieferando reference values.

Frequently asked questions

How high is the Lieferando commission for restaurants?

In the official fact sheet from March 2023, Lieferando consistently stated 14 percent for its own delivery and 30 percent with Lieferando logistics. A Lieferando spokesperson confirmed these values in December 2023. The current public partner site does not specify a universal rate; Your current offer and your contract are therefore decisive.

How much does 20,000 euros in Lieferando sales cost per month?

Assuming a commission base of 20,000 euros, 14 percent calculates 2,800 euros and 30 percent 6,000 euros commission per month. Own delivery costs, optional promotions, payment or other contractual additional costs are not included.

Does registering with Lieferando cost a fee?

The official fact sheet from 2023 did not mention any admission or basic fee. The currently verified partner site also states that there is no registration fee. Sales-dependent commissions and possible additional services must be considered separately.

Does the restaurant pay the Lieferando service fee?

According to the dealer association, the service fee introduced in April 2025 will be charged to the guest in the Lieferando shopping cart. It is not a restaurant commission. It can influence the final price and thus the purchasing decision, but should not be counted as a direct deduction from restaurant sales.

Is the value in the calculator a guaranteed delivery condition?

No. The 14 percent is a publicly documented Lieferando reference value from March and December 2023. The current public partner page does not show a general price list for 2026. Therefore, replace the value in the calculator with the rate and calculation basis of your own current contract.

Can a restaurant use Lieferando and its own online ordering website at the same time?

Both channels can take on different tasks: marketplace reach for new guests and a separate shop for direct orders. Before taking any action to address customers, check the current contractual conditions as well as data protection and advertising consents.
